Stop The Persecution

Police harass Dafa practitioner on Tiananmen Square - 2001

In the 1970s and 80s, there were hundreds of Qigong practices spreading across China. Falun Gong, a.k.a. Falun Dafa, caught on like wildfire partly because of the tremendous healing effects it brought to people and partly because its teachings went beyond regular qigong to a higher realm of self-cultivation. Introduced to the public in 1992 by its teacher and founder Mr. Li Hongzhi, it won recognition as a top-rated qigong practice. Throughout the 1990s, Falun Gong garnered support from numerous Chinese government agencies as a meditation practice deemed to improve public health and morality.

However, starting in the mid 1990’s, the tide started to turn against this peaceful practice. On April 25,1999, around 10,000 practitioners went to Beijing’s Appeals Bureau to appeal the mistreatment of practitioners peacefully protesting a slanderous article published in nearby Tianjin earlier in April. The protestors were remarkably well behaved and tidy. Unfortunately, this peaceful assembly marked the turning point for the practitioners of Falun Dafa.

By 1999, Falun Gong had become a natural target, as it was the largest and fastest growing spiritual group in China with 100 million practitioners nationwide, according to Chinese government reports at the time. The decision to launch this brutal campaign is linked to former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) head Jiang Zemin and his “jealousy” of Falun Gong. On July 20, 1999, Jiang directed the CCP to launch a massive campaign of suppression that continues today. With over 100 brutal torture methods documented, Falun Dafa practitioners are also subjected to mental torture in the form of brainwashing. There is now a mass of evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that since the mid-1990s, the Chinese Communist regime has used countless prisoners of conscience as a live “organ bank.

The nature and scope of this gruesome persecution is relatively underexposed and under-reported by major media. Therefore, individual, grassroots support for those being persecuted is of utmost importance. You can help by visiting websites such as and where you will find detailed information about the scope and the history of the persecution. This is something that affects all of human society as the CCP pushes to control the whole world.

Falun Dafa,  also known as Falun Gong, is a spiritual practice in the Buddhist tradition that espouses the core tenets of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance. The practice’s most visible aspects are its five gentle exercises, including a meditation. They are highly effective ways to improve health and energy. All teachings are free.
